Jason Bonsell, 45, took his last breath at his home on March 5, 2021 after a long battle with carcinoid syndrome. He was born June 1, 1975 in Yuba City, California, the son of Larry Bonsell and Nina Ponomaroff. Jason was a graduate of Tom C. Clark High School in San Antonio, Texas. He served his country honorably in the US Navy from 1999-2019 where he worked as a Search and Rescue swimmer and was a member of the Intelligence community. While stationed at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA, Jason met and married his wife, Tera, and together they created a beautiful life while raising their two sons, Conner and Dylan. They celebrated 10 years of marriage April 2020. Jason was a devoted husband, loving father, and avid Texas Longhorns fan. He was an exceptional individual with a positive outlook on life, and selflessly put others first.
Jason is survived by his wife, Tera; sons, Ethan, Christian, Conner, and Dylan; daughter, Catalina; brother-in-law, Tyler Toepfer (Lexie); mother-in-law, Melinda Smitherman; father-in-law, Jay Toepfer (Donna). Jason was loved by all who knew him and leaves behind a host of family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on March 13th from 11 am – 3 pm at the Clubhouse at Riverwood Plantation, 5120 Riverwood Parkway, across from Greenbrier Middle School. Those who wish to remember Jason in a special way may make donations in his memory to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.
