William J. “Bill” Craig, 69, entered into rest April 22, 2018 after a brief illness. A private memorial service will follow at a later date.
Bill was born on April 21, 1949 in Jellico Plains, Tennessee. After graduating from Lake City High School, he attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry in 1972 and a master’s in planning in 1977. Bill worked with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga for several years. Following his retirement from TVA, he relocated to Augusta, GA with his family and enjoyed a second career as an Environmental Consultant, first with TetraTech/NUS and later with Dade Moeller and Associates, retiring in 2016. Bill had a wry sense of humor and loved telling stories from his childhood in the Tennessee mountains. He enjoyed reading, listening to jazz music, and following his beloved Tennessee Vols.
Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan, daughter Megan Newbold (Mitch), grandson Blake Craig, step-father Nolan Dobbs, sister Sandra Boettiger (Keith), brother Dennis Dobbs (Carol), and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Dorothy Dobbs, preceded him in death.
